The Average Person Speaks Around 7,000 Words Per Day. Here’s How to Use Yours to Get More Sales.
We all know that communication is key, especially when it comes to sales. In order to close a deal, you need to be able to connect with your customer and understand their needs.
But what you may not realize is that the average person speaks around 7,000 words a day. That’s a lot of potential sales opportunities! So, how can you use some of those words to sell more products?
Here are a few cupcakes:
🧁 1. Listen more than you speak. This may seem counterintuitive, but it’s important to really listen to what your customers are saying. They will often give you clues about their needs and wants, which you can then use to suggest them the perfect product to match their wants and needs.
🧁 2. Be clear and concise. When you do speak, make sure you’re being clear and concise. No one wants to listen to a long-winded sales pitch, so get to the point and tell them why your product is the best solution for their needs.
🧁 3. Use honest persuasive language. Language is powerful, so choose your words carefully. Be honest and use persuasive language that will make them want to buy from you, such as “You deserve the best” or “This will help you save time and money.” Tactful honest communication goes a long way in acquiring and retaining lifetime customers, aka clients.
🧁 4. Use action words: Action words are powerful because they create a sense of urgency and encourage people to take immediate action. For example, instead of saying “our new product is available now,” you could say “get our new product before it sells out.”
🧁 5. Be specific: When you are making claims about your product, be as specific as possible. Instead of saying “our product is the best on the market,” try “our product has XYZ features that make it the best on the market.”
🧁 6. Use testimonials: If you have happy customers, let them do the talking for you! Customer testimonials are a great way to build trust and show potential buyers that your product is worth their investment.
🧁 7. Appeal to emotions: We all make purchasing decisions based on our emotions, so it makes sense to appeal to them in your marketing materials. For example, if you are selling a product that can help people save time, you could say “now you can spend more time with your family instead of doing laundry.”
🧁 8. Use scarcity: Scarcity is a powerful motivator, so if you have a limited supply of your product or it is only available for a limited time, be sure to mention that in your marketing materials. This will create a sense of urgency and encourage people to buy before it’s too late.
🧁 9. Keep it simple. This actually should be number 1! The words you use play a big role in how effective your sales pitch will be. Avoid using jargon or industry-specific terminology that your customers may not understand. Instead, focus on using simple, easy-to-understand language that will clearly explain what you’re selling and why they need it.
🧁 10. Tell a story. People are more likely to remember and connect with a story than they are with a list of facts and figures. When you’re making a sales pitch, tell your customers a story about how your product or service has helped someone just like them. This will make it more personal and relatable, and it will help them see the value in what you’re offering.
🧁 11. Be genuine. Customers can spot a fake from a mile away, so it’s important that you be genuine in your sales pitch. If you’re not sincere, they’ll see right through you and they’ll be less likely to buy what you’re selling. Be honest about what you’re offering and why you believe in it, and let that passion shine through in your words.
🧁 12. Ask questions. Asking your customers questions is a great way to keep them engaged in your sales pitch and ensure that they understand what you’re offering. It also gives you an opportunity to better understand their needs so that you can tailor your pitch accordingly. Just be sure to avoid yes or no questions, as these won’t give you the information you need to close the sale.
By using your words wisely, you can increase sales and better serve your customers. So next time you’re speaking to a client, customer, prospect or creating content to market your products/services, keep these tips in mind and watch your numbers improve!
